More about our solo cruises to Portugal

If you're travelling alone, our solo cruises in Portugal allow you to explore this fascinating country without feeling lonely. You can enjoy the privacy of your own room with the flexibility to socialise with like-minded solo explorers as and when you want in the onboard bar and lounge.

This river cruise is definitely an ideal cruise for wine lovers. After exploring the home of port wine - Porto, we'll travel through one of the oldest wine regions in the world. Here, hillside vineyards sit under beautiful Mediterranean skies bursting with oranges and earthy colours. Mooring in pretty little towns, like Peso da Régua, and visit local quintas to learn more about how wine is made (and, of course, we'll get to taste the local wine too). We'll venture away from the riverside to visit historic Lamego, home of Portugal's sparkling wine, Raposeira, and Mateus Palace, where anyone familiar with Mateus Rosé - and its characteristic squashed bottle - will recognise the palace from the label.

Together with your fellow solo travellers, you'll also explore some of Portugal's history with visits to Castle Rodrigo - a small village with a lofty hilltop position that still bears the scars of the constant territorial dispute. We'll even cross the border into Spain to visit Salamanca. Home to the oldest university in Spain and a UNESCO-listed Old Town, you can wander the maze of tiny streets, medieval squares, traditional shops, gardens and marketplaces.
